Inflation slows down in Cuba, economy minister states

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 11 (ACN) Retail inflation in Cuba last November was 2.29 %, lower than in the same period of the previous year, when it reached 4.11 %, informed Alejandro Gil Fernandez, Cuba's deputy prime minister and head of economy and planning.

On X, the minister indicated that inflation is slowing down, and attached to the publication graphs that attest to this, with values such as index, monthly, accumulated and interannual variation.

"Retail inflation in November was 2.29%. In November 2022 it had been 4.11%. With this result, a retail inflation index of 27.03% and a year-on-year index (Nov23/Nov22) of 31.78% is accumulated in 2023 (Jan-Nov)."

Gil Fernandez pointed out that in spite of this the gap between prices, salaries, pensions and income in general from working continues as one of the main unresolved problems, and it must be faced with more production, efficiency and control.

The Council of Ministers approved last week in an extraordinary session the report on the estimated performance of the economy at the end of 2023 and the proposed Plan of the Economy for 2024, as well as the Preliminary Draft of the State Budget for next year.

The documents will be submitted to the consideration of the deputies during the 2nd Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People's Power, in its 10th Legislature, starting next December 20.
