Diaz-Canel attends closing ceremony of the 14th International Meeting of Economists



 HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, is participating today in the closing session of the 14th International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development Problems in Havana.

Prior to this moment, the Cuban leader was present at a panel dedicated to the thoughts of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the Economic and Social Crisis of the World, more than four decades after the publication of that text, the result of the revolutionary leader's leadership of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) between 1979 and 1983.

The event, opened by Fidel in 1999, has brought together since Tuesday about 500 professionals in the economic sciences, coming from about 40 countries, with presentations by prestigious academics, researchers and officials in search of answers to the challenges of the contemporary world.

Accompanying the Cuban head of state are members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC Manuel Marrero Cruz, PM, and Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, foreign minister, Alejandro Gil Fernandez, deputy prime minister and head of economy and planning, Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC and head of the economic and productive department, and Oscar Luis Hung Penton, president of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC).
