MATANZAS, Cuba, Nov 12 (ACN) Infrastructure improvements, organizational readjustments, and the qualification of available human resources are among the steps taken by the "Juan Gualberto Gómez" International Airport—a.k.a. Varadero Airport—to deal with the tourist high season in Cuba.
According to Liuba Quintero Avila, head of the Ground Operations unit at the airport— inaugurated on September 25, 1989 by the Leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro—months-long work has been under way inside and around the terminal, including the extension of certain areas and maintenance actions across the board.
The official also referred to the organization of various training courses for the current staff for the benefit of service quality, expected to produce better results than the previous year.
“On Wednesday we welcomed the initial flight of the tour operator Rainbow, with 288 passengers from Katowice, Poland, and thirteen airlines have already confirmed future flights to this popular sun and beach resort during the high season, so we expect around 3,667 aircraft operations nd the arrival of some 736,000 travelers, mainly from Canada and Russia,” she remarked.
