HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 8 (ACN) In the framework of the 39th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2023), Cuba thanked the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for more than 60 years of strong and excellent uninterrupted relations and the support it has given to the island in its most difficult moments.
FIHAV 2023 included the celebration of Vietnam Day in the event, attended by Huang Minh Chien, deputy director general of the Trade Promotion Division of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Vietnamese ambassador Lo Thanh Tung.
Visiting Cuban authorities remarked that Vietnam has become Cuba’s second largest trading partner, as well as Asia’s main investor in and top supplier of rice for the island. Furthermore, Vietnamese companies stand out from others in the Mariel Special Development Zone, where they run five businesses related to agriculture and renewable energy sources.
Ana Teresita González, deputy prime minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, invited Vietnam to participate in the 9th Session of the Vietnam-Cuba Business Committee, a forum expected to bring new trade opportunities for the benefit of both countries.
On his end, Huang Minh Chien reasserted that his State and government are willing to increase trade with Cuba and pointed out that FIHAV 2023 coincides with the celebration of the 53rd anniversary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s historic visit to the first liberated zone in the province of Quang Tri at the height of the war that U.S. imperialism waged on Vietnam.
