Santa Clara, Oct 24 (ACN) In a bid to expand flights to Cuban destinations, the first flight from Slovakia and the Czech Republic landed at the Abel Santa Maria International Airport in this central Cuban city.
Juan Karell from Der Touvistik travel agency said that the new connection will be available till May in order to get the most out of the upcoming tourist season, though it could be extended till next summer.
The travel agency was already operating flights to Varadero tourist center, in western Matanzas province, before the COVID-19 pandemic and now the Cayo Santa Maria tourist center raised the interest in making the new connection.
The weekly flight is operated by World2Rly airline company with capacity for 432 passengers; it’s an operation expected to increase the number of Czech and Slovakian visitors to the Cuban destination amidst a slight recovery of the island's tourism sector.
