Cuban and Chinese Deputy Premiers Hold Talks in China

Havana Oct 23 (ACN) Cuban deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment Ricardo Cabrisas held talks with his Chinese counterpart He Lifeng on Monday as part of his visit to China to preside over the 30th Session of the Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission.
The deputy Premier conveyed his host congratulations for the recently concluded 3rd Forum of the Belt and Road Initiative on behalf of the Cuban Communist Party, government and people.

Cabrisas ratified his government support of global initiatives launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the willingness to work along China in the construction of a Community of Common Destiny for Humanity.

He recalled the role of the Cuban and Chinese presidents in the inclusion of Cuba in the Belt and Road Initiative following the signing of the MOU on November 2018 and the Cooperation Plan for the Promotion of the Initiative in December 2021.

The Cuban government official stressed the role of the 30th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission to boost effective participation of China in Cuba’s 2030 National Development Plan and to strengthen cooperation in all areas.

The accords to be adopted will set the start to boost relations in all fields, to meet the consensus reached by Miguel Diaz-Canel and Xi Jinping during the visit by the Cuban president to China in November 2022, which were renewed during official talks at the 15th BRICS Summit in Johanesburg earlier this year, Ricardo Cabrisas noted.

Meanwhile, the Chinese deputy Premier stressed the special nature of bilateral relations, marked by coincident points in the ideological and political areas, the exchange of experiences about the two country’s socialist processes with their own characteristics, and far-reaching cooperation.

The two government officials agreed to strengthen and expand bilateral links in the face of unilateral coercive measures imposed on both countries, evidenced by the tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba and sanctions against China, along with discrediting campaigns against the two nations.
