HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 11 (ACN) Economic issues in times of global crisis and a review of the stockpiling enterprise system were the main topics addressed by parliamentary commissions, prior to the 10th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP).
The Economic Affairs Commission was chaired by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who insisted on the principle of creative resistance to meet our goals in 2023, when the country will still be coping with the intensified US blockade and the world economic crisis.
The Cuban leader remarked that the current severe crisis affects not only our country but the whole world, except that Cuba has been dealt more sanctions than any other, in reference to the U.S. blockade, whereas Alejandro Gil Fernández, minister of Economy and Planning, pointed out that there has been a slight, albeit still insufficient recovery.
On her end, Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman Waugh urged to allocate our scarce resources to improve housing in vulnerable communities, a process hindered by the shortage of construction and other materials.
The Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment Commission discussed ways to improve the teaching and dissemination of Cuban history, traditions and culture in schools and universities.
In the coming sessions, the deputies will also receive information about the progress of the economy and the fulfillment of the measures approved in the 9th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the ANPP, as well as about the general economic objectives and the State Budget Law for 2023, among other relevant issues.
