Holguin, Dec 1 (ACN) The international project FORMER (Strengthening Women's Leadership and Participation in the Renewable Energy Sector in Cuba) promotes the use of these alternatives in the province of Holguin as part of the transformation of the regional energy matrix.
Launched in 2017, the project is designed to spread this practice and contribute to the qualification of professionals and involves the installation of a hydroelectric power station and photovoltaic panels, as well as solar heaters in houses, schools and health centers and the increased use of biogas.
FORMER, a cooperation project between the governments of Cuba and Canada aimed at improving living conditions in vulnerable communities, engages the International Cooperation Agency of Canada, Sherritt International Corporation, Cowater International, the University of Holguín and the regional electric power enterprise.
