
Havana, Nov 17 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez demanded a major decision on the compensation for loss and damage, during the 27th Conference of the UN Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) underway in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Developed nations must prove their political will and not delay the setting up of a fund in this conference, Minister Rodriguez wrote on his Twitter account. shorturl.at/fipV5
Meanwhile, Cuban Minister for Science, Technology and the Environment, Elba Rosa Perez addressed the COP 27 session to say that it is due time to adopt the necessary actions aimed at reverting climate change and she went on to call for solidarity and financial justice in this issue.
Financial justice means accessing to new and additional funds to compensate the loss and damage and implement the adaptation measures needed, to simplify proceedings and agreed to a new goal, the Cuban official noted.
The COP 27 winds up on Friday, after 13 days of sessions with the participation of leaders from over 190 countries of the world, who gathered to step up joint actions to cushion the impact of climate change.
