Cuban sugar group to present its business portfolio at Havana Fair

 HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) The AZCUBA Sugar Group will present tomorrow its portfolio of foreign investment opportunities at the 38th Havana International Fair, which will be held until next Friday at the EXPOCUBA fairgrounds.

AZCUBA is a business group in charge of directing and controlling the entities that make up the sugar agroindustry for the development of the production of sugars, electric energy, sugarcane derivatives and food for human consumption and agriculture, according to the draft of its projects.

One of its essential objectives is to recover sugarcane production, increase agricultural yields, eliminate empty areas, grow in areas with irrigation and efficient drainage, and introduce biotechnology and precision agriculture.

It is also aimed at strengthening, diversifying and developing the productive base, improving its economic management in favor of the rural environment, modernizing agro-industrial machinery, and improving the preparation, organization and integral insurance of the harvest.

The Foreign Investment Policy in the sector seeks capital, technology, market, sources of employment and access to management methods, to modernize the industry, to introduce and extend new proprietary technologies and to prioritize import substitution, based on internal or external production chains.

Its business would be conducted through ZERUS S.A., a 100% Cuban capital corporation, sponsored by AZCUBA and created 17 years ago.

It holds shares and participation quotas for the development and control of foreign investments and totally Cuban capital, linked to the sugar agro-industrial sector in Cuba and abroad, and acts as an employer in the modalities of foreign investment.
