
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) The ministries of agriculture of Hungary and Cuba signed , in Havana on Monday, a MoU through which they aspire to strengthen collaboration, expand and develop the exchange of information in animal health.
The document was signed by Katalin Bihari, undersecretary of state for foreign economic affairs of Hungary, and Maury Echevarria Bermudez, deputy minister of the Cuban agency, in a meeting that took place in the protocol room of the Ministry of Agriculture.
It recognizes the importance of collaboration in the progress of science, technology and regulatory activities to contribute to the exchange of animals, materials for their reproduction, products and by-products of animal origin, including aquatic ones, as well as raw materials for animal feed and products for veterinary use.
The objective is to protect human and animal health in both countries, create favorable conditions for the exchange of species, cooperate in the protection against the penetration of serious diseases during operations and any other that could act as a carrier of transmission.
This MoU states that, taking into account the legislations and the limits of their competences, they exchange information related to the presence of terrestrial and aquatic animal diseases, included in the list of the World Organization for Animal Health.
It will have a five-year duration and may be extended for successive periods of the same length, unless either party notifies its intention to conclude it, in which case it will expire six months after the date of its pronouncement.
