Spanish Entrepreneurs Trust Cuba’s Conditions to Boost their Businesses

Havana, Nov 14 (ACN) The Spanish entrepreneurs bet to expand their businesses in Cuba, said Angel Martin Peccis, Spain’s ambassador during the 38th Havana International Trade Fair, which opened Monday in Havana.

The diplomat told ACN that his country shared historic commercial relations with Cuba and that Spanish companies have for years bet on the development of the island economy.

Commercial flow between the two nations begins to grow again in post-pandemic times, said Martin Peccis and added that Spain wants to keep leading the island’s development process. “That’s why we are here because we want to support productivity and competitiveness,”

During the opening of Spain’s pavilion at the fair, Cuban first deputy Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez thanked Spanish entrepreneurs for staying in Cuba and for not yielding to foreign pressures, or tensions caused by the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island nation.

Spain’s presence in the fair targets the sectors of agricultural products, equipment, goods and supplies for homes and hotels, and industrial equipment. It is Cuba’s third major commercial partner in the world and the first one in the European Union.
