Cuba will have company in FIHAV 2022, Minister says

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 9 (ACN) The Havana International Fair 2022 (FIHAV) will open next Monday with a high turnout that includes 25 official delegations and chambers of commerce, which shows that Cuba is not alone and that the world business community has confidence in the Cuban market despite the effects of the U.S. blockade, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz remarked.

According to the Minister, FIHAV will host 60 countries, including traditional trading partners such as China, Russia, Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Venezuela and, for the first time, Laos and the United Arab Emirates. Likewise, nine U.S. exhibitors will attend, since “Cuba blockades no one and is open to doing business with anyone in the world,” he added.

Featured on the fair’s agenda are the 5th Investment Forum, a presentation about current projects under way in the Mariel Special Development Zone, and the signature of a joint venture with Unilever, as well as meetings between advertising agencies and business centers and panels on the one-stop shop for foreign investment and investment opportunities for Cubans living abroad.

Organized after a two-year-long COVID lockdown, FIHAV 2022 will host priority economic sectors such as food, agriculture, light industry, health linked to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, education, transportation and renewable energy.
