World Bartending Championship to announce winners of this edition

VARADERO, Cuba, Nov 8 (ACN) After three days of competitions, the winners of the 69th edition of the World Bartending Championship, to be held in Cuba for the first time, will be announced in Varadero.

Today will be the Super Final from which the winner of the Classic Cup will be chosen and the remaining prizes conceived by the International Bartenders Association (IBA) will be awarded.

At the Melia Internacional Varadero Hotel, the 33 contestants in flair style and 54 in classic showed their best skills to a team of technical judges and another one of blind tasting, which ensured the impartiality of the event.

As a novelty of this edition, the IBA introduced new international regulations in the classic category that include written examination, technical evaluation, sensory, speed and talent in the creation of new cocktails.

The day's agenda also features the relaunch of the book Un brindis por mi Habana( A Toast to My Havana), by Jose Rafa Malem, president of the Association of Cuban Bartenders, a summary of his knowledge about local drinks obtained in the practice of the trade and through research.

On Monday, bartenders and representatives of the IBA prepared the world's largest Adam and Eve cocktail, a 250-liter mixture and a tribute to Sergio Serrano, Cuba's only winner in a similar contest in 2003.

During the IBA's Annual General Assembly, Cuba won the nomination to hold the event in 2022, an award endorsed by the professionalism of those dedicated to this art.
