Cuban Government Approves Denomination for Northern Keys

 

Havana, Nov 7 (ACN) The Cuban Council of Ministers (Government) designated the keys off the northern coast of the central province of Ciego de Avila as a zone under special regulations with economic development interest, in the category of Territory of Preferential Tourist Use, in tune with Decree-law 331 related to Zones under Special Regulations.

The zone includes Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Coco, Anton Chico, Anton Grande, Romano and Paredon Grande keys, which will now be named “The Zone” encompassing the waters to the north and among the keys.

The Zone aims to develop tourism linked to sun and beach, nautical activity, nature based on a sustainable, harmonic, planned focus oriented to enhance production chains and the development of the municipality to improve the local people’s quality of life according to the decree-law, published on the Cuban Official Gazette.

The document also establishes regulations and prohibitions for individuals and legal entities in carrying out certain actions on the territory, which are under the jurisdiction of the Cuban Tourism Minister.

The governor of Ciego de Avila province in entitled to issue the proceedings related to applications for access to The Zone.
