MATANZAS, Cuba, Jul 8 (ACN) The rehabilitation of the monitors of the firefighting system in the Territorial Division of Fuel Commercialization (DTCCM), based in this city(western Cuba), became an innovative solution that replaces imports.
Leisser Rivero Rivero, an electrical engineer from the maintenance area of the entity, which belongs to the Cuban Petroleum Union ( CUPET), told the Cuban News Agency that his work saved approximately 1,500 euros and was achieved in a short time.
We are talking about fixed or mobile devices for water or foam jets orientation, specifically those used in the PC2 dock, a platform for loading and unloading ships; in the company those equipments had been installed for 20 or 30 years and were already inoperative, he explained.
With the old circuits, we readapted the electrical control cabinets and were able to put those monitors into operation. It was a relatively simple job that gave vitality to the dock and allowed it to be recertified, because it could not operate without that system, Rivero Rivero explained.
Different innovations, such as the recovery of a steam boiler feed pump, had a total economic impact of close to 10 million pesos in savings.
The inventiveness of its workers makes it possible to keep the gangways, pipes and loading arms used to fill the holds of the fuel ships in the deep water dock operational, when it is necessary to extend the useful life of the equipment exposed to the saline environment.
