Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Union seminar kicks off today in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 14 (ACN) The Seminar "Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU): cooperation in the context of the restructuring of the world economy" will be held in Havana Dec 14-15.

The event will be attended by a broad representation of national organizations, institutions and entities, who will exchange with counterparts from the regional bloc on issues of great interest for both parties and marked by mutual learning and academic debate.

Following the visit to Cuba of Serguey Glasiev, minister of integration and macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), a broad plan of activities is being developed this week to promote cooperation between Cuba and the EEC.

The Joint Action Plan for Collaboration in the period 2021-2025 was signed, consisting of 34 actions in pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, tourism, agri-food sector, energy, inter-business links and inter-bank relations, among others.

The final act of the 2nd Session of the Commission was also signed, containing the main agreements of the exchanges; and a Cooperation Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba and the Council of Entrepreneurs of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The EAEU is made up of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Eurasian Economic Court of the Union.

Cuba participated for the first time in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the supreme body of the Union, on December 11, 2020, when it was granted the status of Observer State.
