International Tourism Exchange officially opens in Cuba

CAYO SANTA MARÍA, Cuba, Dec 8 (ACN) Starting today, hotels and beaches of the tourist park Cayo Santa María, 110 kilometers from the city of Santa Clara, will host the official opening of the 3rd Gaviota Destinations Tourist Exchange, intended this year to promote the segment of meetings and congresses, a growing trend worldwide.

The event will provide a framework for socializing on what the company Gaviota Tours and its partners in Cuba have to offer and for bringing together tour operators, travel agents, retail agencies and hoteliers, according to the travel agency, which has more than three decades of experience in offering hotel services.

On Wednesday, Juan Carlos García Granda and José Angel Portal Miranda, ministers of Tourism and Public Health, respectively, will speak on the progressive resumption of activities in Cuba since borders started to reopen and the observance of the health protocols imposed by the pandemic.

In its first edition, the Destinos Gaviota Tourism Exchange attracted more than 300 representatives of travel agencies, tour operators and major companies in the sector, whereas the second one, held in 2017, was devoted to nautical tourism, with Havana and the Varadero Beach resort as venues.

Located off the north-central coast of Cuba, Cayo Santa María is one of the country’s top recreational spots boasting islets of white sands and clean waters, much like other keys within the same tourist park such as Ensenachos and Las Brujas.
