Cuban deputy PM highlights importance of Business Forum Cuba 2021

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 30 (ACN) Alejandro Gil Fernandez, Cuban deputy prime minister and head of economy and planning, told the press how useful and beneficial are spaces such as the II Business Forum Cuba 2021, to provide information of interest and exchange with domestic and foreign entrepreneurs, including the new economic actors.

These events are essential, especially now when we are entering a favorable and gradual process of recovery, in which it will not be possible to immediately solve all the problems accumulated in recent years, when the Gross Domestic Product had a fall of about 12%, the high official said.

We believe that the country has the conditions to move forward, and we can see it in its political stability, in the permanent search for solutions, in the permanent contacts of its main leaders with the people, in the demonstrations of support to the Revolution in the wake of the imperialist attempts to destabilize the country, Gil Fernandez stated.

There are no objective or subjective problems to prevent the development of these cooperation ties with the Cuban community living abroad, which includes a large majority of Cubans who are against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, and who demand a stable relationship and want the best for Cuba, the deputy prime minister emphasized.

Regarding the financial limitations that the island has been facing for years, Gil Fernandez mentioned that these basically derive from the criminal U.S. blockade, which has tried in every way possible to cut off remittances, an important source of income for the country, as it is for many others in the region.

The possibilities of recovering tourism and its linkage with the rest of the productive and service sectors, both in the state and non-state sectors, will allow the Cuban economy to continue with a gradual recovery process, the head of economy and planning concluded.
