Cuban PM attends the Cuba-Italy business forum in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 26 (ACN) Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban prime minister, is chairing today in Havana the business forum of the Caribbean island and Italy, an event that will contribute to strengthen the ties between the two countries in economy and trade.

In his opening remarks, Antonio Carricarte, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, welcomed the first business delegation that the country is receiving after the isolation caused by the pandemic, at a time when the economy is also beginning its recovery phase.

It is a priority for Cuba to promote business in agribusiness, renewable energy, tourism, light industry and industry in general, in accordance with the national development plan until 2030, he emphasized.

Regarding the potential for investing in Cuba, Carricarte highlighted the current regulatory framework, the creation of the Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment offices, the increase in the number of entities empowered to carry out foreign trade activities and the advance of projects in the Mariel Special Development Zone.

The event will be attended by 30 Italian companies as part of a delegation visiting the Caribbean nation, headed by Claudio Cardini, president of the Daiquiri Tours Group.

The Italian ambassador, Roberto Vellano, and Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, minister of foreign trade and investment, among other Cuban officials, are also attending the forum.

There are 45 representative offices of Italian companies in Cuba and three businesses in the Mariel Special Development Zone.
