Cuban Non-State Sector Increases Foreign Trade Activity

Havana, Aug 11 (ACN) The foreign trade activity of the local private sector continues to unfold through established state-owned import-export companies.

Imports director with the Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry Maria Isabel Pozo said they have already closed over 4 thousand import deals with the private sector aimed at enhancing production activity in the country; while the export contracts have translated into some 12 million dollars.

The Cuban government introduced a new policy in July 2020 favoring the foreign trade activity of the private sector through specialized state companies.

The move is part of the Cuban Social and Economic Strategy to strengthen and develop its economy and face the world crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
