Havana, Aug 3 (ACN) The US economic, commercial and financial blockade inflicted losses to Cuban tourism calculated at over 360 million dollars in the 2020-2021 period of time.
The sector received important impacts related to cuts of trips, services, operations and necessary logistics for its performance, according to the Tourism Ministry’s Twitter account.
The US blockade was further strengthened by the former Donald Trump administration which imposed 234 new sanctions thwarting foreign business operations of the tourist sector.
Along with the new measures, Washington cut charter flights from US territory to Cuban airports, with the exception of Havana but under limited operations.
The prohibition of US cruise ship voyages to the island since 2019, commercial flight restrictions, the elimination of family remittances and the suspension of the family reunification program are some of the measures with significant impact on the Cuban people.
