Furniture factory in Cuban province set record in revenues

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (ACN) The year 2020 was the year of best economic results in the history of Muebles Ludema, from Las Tunas, as it had revenues for more than 23.7 million pesos, mainly through production of furniture for the tourism industry.

This is the result of the high productivity of the collective and of responding with quality to the demand made by tourist facilities in several provinces, including high standard hotels, explained Ólmedo Chin, director of the entity.

During an exchange with the main political and government authorities of the province, the executive considered that in addition to the high professionalism, they have state-of-the-art technology and guaranteed best quality raw material.

As we adopted all the measures to protect ourselves from Covid-19, we have had no interruptions since the disease was detected in Cuba last March, said Ólmedo Chin, who informed that the average salary of the workers each month was 1,553 pesos (twice higher than average salary in 2020).

The commitment for the year was 14 million pesos, but work was added to respond to requests from 14 hotels, some of which will have their furniture completed in 2021.

Gretel Valdivia Leyva, Ludema's tourism project business specialist, told the Cuban News Agency that among the hotels that were worked on in 2020 are the Primera y D and Gran Hotel, in Havana; Roca Este, in Cayo Coco (Ciego de Avila); Quebrada 21, in Cayo Cruz (Camagüey) and the Baracutey 59, in Holguín.

It is very important, said Ólmedo Chin, that the entity has guaranteed almost all the raw material for the year, mainly for the first quarter, hence work is already underway on five tourism projects, including the Primera y 70 hotel in the capital.

Valdivia Leyva said that the Metropolis hotel is on cue, and the one on K y 23, in the heart of Vedado, projected to be the tallest building in the country, is also being planned.

Parallel to the commitments with tourism, Ludema will venture into useful productions for the home that will be offered for sale to the population.
