HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 29 (ACN) Esteban Lazo, President of the Cuban Parliament, called for a greater efficiency in budget execution during the submission of the 2019 state budget.
During the ordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), he referred to some problems for controlling state-run resources, which were stated by the Minister of Finance and Prices, Meisi Bolaños.
Bolaños emphasized the purpose of gradual decreased tax deficit, which reached 6,435 million pesos, lower than estimate and the previous year, but still insufficient.
Lazo also talked about the need to generate income, for which he called for all workers' involvement. In 2019, Cuba reached over $59 billion CUP of gross income, mainly due to the non-fulfillment of retail commercial circulation.
Business activity required 30% of State budget spending, mainly due to the support of export subsidies and import substitution. However, 787 companies decreased their contribution of profits compared to previous year and 88 registered losses.
