TUI UK agency ratifies its commitment to Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) The Cuban ministry of tourism (MINTUR) announced Friday that on Sunday, October 25, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner of the TUI UK agency will begin operations from Manchester ( UK) to Varadero.
With that flight, and after a long period without tourist flights to the island, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the high season of international tourism starts in Cuba and TUI UK reiterates its trust in the destination, MINTUR refers in a briefing note.
The statement reminds that from the very beginning of the tourist development in Cuba, the British market was among the first European emitters to the country; in 2016 and 2017, the number of annual visitors exceeded 205.
TUI UK started its air operations to Cuba in 2007, and since then it has been steadily expanding its destinations to include Santa Maria Key, Holguin and Varadero. During the periods in which TUI UK has had air operations to Cuba, it has sent approximately 7,000 to 10,000 passengers a year.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the British economy and society, as well as in our country, has raised the need to activate the tourist relationship between the United Kingdom and Cuba, for which the TUI UK air operation to Varadero will contribute to achieve more British visitors to the island.
