HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) The Cyprus friendship association with Cuba demanded the end of the US blockade against the island, which has been tightened in recent years due to the coercive policies adopted by the Donald Trump administration.
In a meeting of its General Council, where its new members were elected, the Association rejected the most recent provisions of the State Department, which restrict the rights of Americans and further hinder the sending of remittances to the island.
Today, the Cuban foreign ministry's website reports that the solidarity organization joined the nomination of the Henry Reeve Contingent for the Nobel Peace Prize, a worldwide call for nominations that was officially registered a few days ago by the World Peace Council.
The association stated that the pandemic has served to show the role and action of the solidarity missions of the Caribbean nation throughout the world, and in particular has called the attention of the international community to the disinterested medical cooperation in situations of disasters and serious epidemics.
For almost 30 years, this friendship association has been in charge of fostering ties between the people of both countries and has supported causes such as the end of the US blockade against Cuba and the return of the territory under occupation in Guantanamo.
