Cuba and China for a successful future in diplomatic relations

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 24 (ACN) China and Cuba called today for a future of success in their diplomatic ties, after highlighting the results achieved in six decades and the value of a friendship that overcame the ups and downs of the world scene.

During an event to mark the 60th anniversary of these ties, Yang Jiechi, Foreign Affairs Director of the Communist Party of China, described the achievements of cooperation in different fields as satisfactory.

He expressed his hope that both parties will move toward an even brighter future in the development of their relations.

Meanwhile, Lin Songtian, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, expressed his willingness to work together with Cuba to deepen fraternity and mutually beneficial cooperation.

He also called for strengthening political trust, cultural exchanges and mutual support in the international arena, as this would further contribute to the socialist cause.

In his speech, the Cuban ambassador, Carlos Miguel Pereira, stressed that the Beijing-Havana relations are marked by affinities, consensus and the challenge of building socialism despite unilateralism, blockades, protectionism, policies of force and double standards in the fight against terrorism.

Pereira expressed certainty that in the next 60 years they will take new steps in that direction and will remain close friends, comrades in the cause and proven brothers in the struggle.

In this context, Beijing plans to open its International Book Fair next Saturday with Cuba as guest of honor.
