HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (ACN) José Ramon Cabañas, Cuban ambassador to the United States, warned on his Twitter account that several brands have been misleading their consumers using "originally produced in Cuba" labels to hide second-rate rum.
The diplomat said that the products that are marketed under that classification are completely different since they are not made in Cuba.
The beverages they promote do not benefit from the Cuban climate, local sugar or the unique culture and wisdom of Cuban rum masters, Cabañas noted.
At the same time, he shared a tweet by Cuba Business Report, an account that offers news about the economy and business development on the Caribbean island, which states that Cuban rums are known throughout the world for their high quality and a much superior taste.
He also clarified that if the label does not explicitly say "Made in Cuba", then the product is not Cuban.
The Cuban rums with the most international prestige are the Havana Club with products such as Añejo 7 años, Selección de Maestros, Unión and Colección Tributo.
