SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, February 10 (ACN) Specialists from the Cuban Ministry of Culture and Casa del Caribe are engaged in an intensive promotional tour in Colombia in support of the 45th Caribbean Festival, to be held in this city on July 3 to 9 and dedicated to the cultural and ethnic diversity of the South American nation.
Sadia Acosta, senior specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Cuban Ministry of Culture, highlighted the high level of sensitivity, solidarity, and commitment expressed by Colombian institutions and organizations during the meetings, which reaffirmed the historical and cultural ties between the two nations.
"One feels proud and moved to witness the great outpouring of affection and support offered by the Colombians with whom we met," she stated.
As part of their agenda, the Cuban officials took part in a solidarity event at the Cuban Embassy in Bogotá, attended by Ambassador Carlos de Céspedes Piedra and Colombian Senator Gloria Flórez, who recognized the dignity and example of the Cuban people and reasserted the support of her country's solidarity movement.
The debates focused on coordinating donations to support the Cuban people, faced with the strengthening of the U.S. blockade, and launch a campaign for the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, while a proposal was made to further disseminate the thoughts and legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution through forums, academic meetings, and educational initiatives.
Also present were members of the Cuba solidarity movement in Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Medellín, who reaffirmed their commitment to keep promoting joint cultural, social and educational initiatives.
The 45th edition of the Caribbean Festival will pay tribute to Colombia with a broad program based on artistic performances, panel discussions, exhibitions, parades, and community activities to celebrate the roots, traditions, and identity expressions of the peoples in the region.
