In statements to the press, Mr. Luis stressed the importance of his presence at the festival as a gesture of gratitude toward the Cuban people, whom he described as brothers and sisters of Venezuela who have been supportive during the most difficult times.
"Whenever Venezuela has been in a tight spot and has had to look around, those who have always been with us are the Cuban men and women," said the artists, who acknowledged that the decision to travel was not easy, given the complex situation in his country, but decided that bringing his music to Cuba is also a way to reaffirm the peace and joy of the Venezuelan people.
"We are a people of peace, we are a people of joy, and we will continue to defend it above all else," he stated.
He also expressed his confidence that Venezuela will keep building its future by its own strength, just as Cuba does every day, “because we are countries of joy, we are sister nations, and we will always move forward together," he concluded.
