Cuban institution announces literary contest about the Russian Federation



HAVANA, Cuba, January 13 (ACN) The House of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America (ALBA Cultural) is launching the "I Read Russia" Literary Contest, as Russia is the Guest of Honor at the 34th Havana International Book Fair in 2026.

The call is open to primary, secondary, and pre-university students throughout the country, who must include their personal information in their submissions.

Entries must be in the genres of Short Story, Poetry, and Décima (a ten-line stanza form), with one entry per genre. Short stories should not exceed three pages, and poetry and décima should not exceed two pages. Submissions must be sent digitally in a Word document, with the author's information appearing on the first page and the work on the second page.

The themes are Russian children's literature, its characters, authors, stories, life in that vast Eurasian country, its landscapes and animals, and participants may use characters, intertextuality, or any other format, always adhering to the competition's requirements.

A jury composed of prestigious writers and members of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Cuba will evaluate the entries and award the corresponding prizes.
