HAVANA, Cuba, July 2 (ACN) A Night with the Rolling Stones (2024), Cuban director Patricia Ramos’s second feature film, won the Audience Award at the Ravno Selo Festival in Serbia, where 7,000 moviegoers chose the film from among 24 works from 13 countries.
“The award takes me by surprise and makes me very happy”, Ms. Ramos said in statements to the press. “These audience awards are always very special and often a favorite among filmmakers because it means they succeeded in getting their message through to the public”.
A Night with the Rolling Stones is about a mature woman who deals with her son’s wishes to leave for another country, her mother’s willingness to have a peaceful death, a married man who loves her, and an old female friend, all of them intertwined in a story inspired by the memorable evening of March 26, 2016, when a crowd of 400,000 gathered at a sports field in Havana to enjoy an unprecedented concert of the Rolling Stones.
It also boasts the Best International Feature Film award of the Puerto Rico Film Festival and an Honorable Mention for Best Actress for Lola Amores―who plays the main character―as well as a nomination for Best Sound Award at the 12th Platino Ibero-American Film Festival.
Held on June 26 to 29 and traditionally oriented to young people, the Ravno Selo Film Festival included movies by filmmakers from Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Cuba, and Italy, among other countries.
