Cuban duet Buena Fe gives fifth performance in Costa Rica

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (ACN) In its fifth presentation in Costa Rica, the duet Buena Fe is representing Cuban music’s centuries-old trova traditions as part of its Central American tour this year.

Known at international level for their approach to a wide range of Cuban and foreign rhythms, the musicians and poets Israel Rojas and Yoel Martinez brought to San Jose’s Jazz Cafe a program supported by 25 years of presentations in a dozen countries.

The duet, established in 1999, boasts 13 albums that mark what the Costa Rican scholar Oscar Barrantes of the Centro Popular de Estudios Sociales described as a work which identifies with and displays the idiosyncrasy of the island’s mixed population.

“We appreciate Buena Fe's uninhibited intention to carry around the world the affection, message, friendliness, internationalist devotion, solidarity and brotherhood of the paradigmatic and legendary Cuban people”, he remarked, “so we welcome them with admiration, fraternity and hospitality in our land of good, hard-working people who thank Buena Fe as legitimate children of Cuban dignity”.
