HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 19 (ACN) The hall of South Africa, the guest country of honor of the Havana International Book Fair, was home to a panel discussion about the importance of diversity in the world.
Among the speakers was the lecturer Zonabele Tshayana, who described what is considered different as ‘fortitude’ and as a factor that unites human beings based on their own characteristics.
“Literature, often a reflection of reality and daily life, can be a tool to belie the notion that what is not equal is negative”, he stressed.
On his end, the author Molaoli Sekake addressed several of human kind’s unresolved matters, such as the problems still facing raciality and marginalization.
The South African writers agreed that authenticity is the best weapon to fight social stereotyping and separatist ideas and highlighted diversity, as a synonymous with plurality, as the path that society must follow in its search for balance.
