Havana Book Fair hosts, as of today, 3rd Business Forum



 HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 17 (ACN) The 3rd Business Forum for Publishers and Book Professionals will kick off today, in the context of the 33rd Havana International Book Fair (FILH), to promote new opportunities and experiences in reading and learning.

From the San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress in Havana, which hosts the FILH, the Cuban Book Institute and the Cuban Book Chamber, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, will develop this initiative in a unique day of networking -a space dedicated to joint work- , designed for book professionals and publishers to discover new business models.

The Fair's website and the call for this Monday's event state that knowledge, experiences and strategies for success in the publishing business will be shared through emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and virtual reality.

During the networking day, several topics of interest will be addressed, including the digitization of the publishing sector, innovation in content, co-publishing and economic and political challenges for the book industry, just to mention a few approaches.

It will be a space for presentations of projects and strategic alliances, all with the aim of promoting culture and especially reading in all possible formats.

As part of the Forum and throughout the FILH, a Negotiating Committee will hold sessions to facilitate the formation of business deals, the signing of memorandums, contracts, agreements and accords, as well as the consolidation of new commercial ties and the creation of strategic alliances for the publishing industry.

For Monday, the Fair's program also includes the awarding of the Nicolas Guillen (Poetry) and Alejo Carpentier (Novel, Short Story and Essay) prizes for 2024.

The 33rd Havana International Book Fair is dedicated to Francisca Lopez Civeira, multilaureate historian, professor and researcher, and to Virgilio Lopez Lemus, outstanding poet, translator and essayist.

It has the Republic of South Africa as Guest of Honor and pays tribute to the 130th anniversary of Jose Marti's death in combat and the 25th anniversary of SET.
