Chinese traditions present at Biennial of Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 14 (ACN) The Biennial of Havana, which is almost at the end after its opening last November, presented along with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to Cuba the exhibition of Lamps or lanterns of the Asian nation, on the occasion of the Spring Festival.

At the Hotel Nacional de Cuba and in the presence of Hua Xin, Ambassador of the PRC and Nelson Ramirez de Arellano Conde, director of the Biennial of Havana, the exhibition was also dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China, a friendship that endures and strengthens.

Hua Xin thanked the Hotel Nacional de Cuba for organizing the event and said that it is a unique opportunity to experience together Chinese culture and tradition, a moment in which the cultural relics of the Asian nation are combined with the modernity of the Havana International Book Fair, which was opened on Thursday.

It represents an unforgettable experience, the Ambassador added, in which the director of the Havana Biennial agreed and expressed that the inclusion of Chinese lanterns in the Biennial promotes cultural dialogue and allows attendees to appreciate a millenary tradition, while inspiring future artistic interpretations in the context of contemporary art.

Chinese lamps, lanterns or flashlights are registered as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and are symbols of friendship, peace and love.
