SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Dec 10 (ACN) Cuban naive art painters are developing an extensive program of activities in Philadelphia, US, sponsored by Salzmann Photography Center and the Bayate project, a group belonging to the municipality of Mella in the Cuban eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, which is about to celebrate its 30 years of creation.
Luis Joaquin Rodriguez, leader of the Bayate group, told the Cuban News Agency that 27 works by 12 artists were exhibited at the Fpoto Wes gallery in Philadelphia, a U.S. city known as the city of brotherly love.
In addition, in the same institution, photographs, paintings and books of the project "Wrestling", made with coaches and young people of that sport in the Aurelio Janet gymnasium, located in the central Entramadas Street, and about the life and work of the prestigious artist and anthropologist Laurence Salzmann were presented.
Visits to museums and different artistic murals in the city, academic meetings related to creation and anthropology, concerts and folkloric shows made up the broad agenda in the northern city, as well as the exhibitions "The Struggle" and "For a Better World", which were propitious to hold exchanges with children from the Samuel Powel elementary school, affirmed the also known as El Estudiante (The Student).
He said that this new experience enriches the artistic work and opens new opportunities for collaboration and exchange, as well as the programming of future exhibitions.
About to celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Bayate group is a local, national and international reference of Cuban culture.
