Havana, Dec 9 (ACN) In a homage-paying gesture for ex-Beatle John Lennon on the 44th year of his death, the Cuban band Apple Jam launched a concert in Central Santa Clara city recalling some of the hits of the famous British band.
The initiative, at the centrally located Leoncio Vidal plaza, was born in 2008 to evoke the memory of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and to pass a music culture to the young generations, said band director Guillermo Perez.
Santa Clara citizen David Alvarez told reporters that he enjoyed the concert and expressed his appreciation that so many people here value the melodies and lyrics which marked and represent a stage of humanity.
John Lennon was a British artist, musician, songwriter, actor, activist, producer, author and pacifist. He was co-founder of the famous band The Beatles.
