Havana to host celebration for International Museum Day

HAVANA, Cuba, May 13 (ACN) To celebrate International Museum Day, from May 14 to 18, Havana's Historic Center will host exhibitions, tours, concerts and lectures on those spaces for cultural development.

According to the Cultural Program of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana (OHCH by its Spanish acronym), the House of the Arabs will host the academic panel "Heritage education: a look from the museum management".

As for exhibitions, the publication refers that on May 15, the Museum of Playing Cards will host the exhibition "Barajas del conocimiento. Education and research by hand", "An educational journey through colonial tableware in tea, coffee and milk services" will take place on May 16 at the Lombillo Palace, while on May 17 the Goldsmith Museum will host the exhibition "Reflections of metal: contemporary goldsmithing".

Also, the tour "Connecting Stars: Cosmological Vision of the Most Important Pre-Hispanic Civilizations", scheduled for May 18, and the third one dedicated to the colonial patios of the Historic Center of Old Havana.

At the Victor Hugo House, a new museography of the archeology room will be presented, made up of pieces found during the excavation prior to the restoration and inauguration of the institution in 2005.

The initiative will identify elements linked to patrimonial goods kept in museums, as well as Cuban or European institutions and monuments, which are a reflection of the links between Cuba and the so-called Old Continent, according to the social networks of that space located at the Palacio del Segundo Cabo.

Since 1977, the International Council of Museums established the date to highlight the key role of these cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience and a more conscious, sustainable and inclusive world.
