HAVANA, Cuba, May 1 (ACN) The 4th International Educational Film Festival (MICE) will be held on May 6 to 12, according to Ivonne Sánchez Noroña, general coordinator of the event.
Established in 2013 and brought to Cuba by Josep Arbiol, president of MICE Valencia and member of the Jordi el Mussol Cultural Association (CA), MICE provides for education through cinema and contributes to the audiovisual culture of children, teenagers and young people, she remarked.
“The first festival took place in Havana in January 2020 without any institutional funding, under the coordination of the Cuban Institute of Cultural Research Juan Marinello of the Ministry of Culture,” she added. “Now we rely on the support of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), the National Council of Houses of Culture, MICE International, and the embassies of France, Germany and Spain, among other institutions.”
She pointed out that the 4th festival will go beyond primary and secondary schools to include screenings in public places and movie theaters across Havana for the benefit of students at all levels. Likewise, the program features lectures and workshops given by Cuban and foreign experts who will share their knowledge with all target audiences and promote the use of audiovisual media in formal and non-formal education as part of the ongoing processes of social and cultural transformation.
