Cuban and Mexican dancers share experiences on International Dance Day

MATANZAS, Cuba, Apr 30 (ACN) A space for socializing and sharing experiences between choreographers and dancers from Cuba and Mexico was held during the season "Everything has its truth", on the date that celebrates the international day of this artistic manifestation.

At the headquarters of the Cuban Writers and Artists Association (Uneac by its Spanish acronym) in the western province of Matanzas, members of the Nova Danza Company, Danza Espiral and teachers and students of the School of Contemporary Dance of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center, from Mexico, offered their work in the cultural universe of body movements and rhythms.

It is an honor to be here and to share our way and perspective of seeing art in its current dimension, where a diversity of styles are mixed, this exchange is an opportunity to learn more and work in the classes that variety of languages that dance comprises, said Francisco Magaña, Mexican choreographer and teacher.

For her part, Liliam Padron, director of Danza Espiral, the experience of sharing with foreign professionals will allow other approaches, with teaching models different from those existing on the island, with new training and search paths to contribute to the preparation of each dancer.

Coming to Matanzas, said Mexican choreographer Luis Villanueva, is something to appreciate and value, a city that charms and welcomes all its visitors, while expressing the wish that this is the beginning of a relationship of friendship and collaboration.

Kenia Carrazana, director of Nova Danza, emphasized the premise of increasing techniques, working hard, learning elements of both repertoires, and encouraging everyone, teachers and students, with ideas and proposals, the creative work.

Workshops, gatherings and presentations in different scenarios of this city will be among the initiatives that until May 4 will provide spaces for the exchange between both nations, enriching the heterogeneous universe of one of the most ancient forms of expression of human beings: dance.
