El más suave de todos los veranos, more than just a love story

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 20 (ACN) Love, Havana society in the last years of the so-called Special Period, and the editor's profession are the three main topics addressed in Francisco López Sacha’s novel El más suave de todos los veranos [The gentlest of all summers], just launched at the 32nd Havana International Book Fair.

Set in 1996, right when Cuba was just beginning to overcome the aforesaid period of crisis, El más suave… is about a 45-year-old book editor and a nurse in her late twenties who start a relationship marked by everything from tenderness, jealousy and passion to erotic scenes which, according to the author, should not be left out of the literature.

Lopez Sacha is also the author of El cumpleaños del fuego, Descubrimiento del azul, Análisis de la ternura and Islas en el sol: antología del cuento cubano y dominicano, among other books.

The Havana International Book Fair, held until February 25 at the Morro-Cabaña historic-military park, has the Federative Republic of Brazil as guest of honor and is dedicated to the notable essayist Lopez Sacha and to Isabel Monal, winner of the 1998 National Social Sciences Award.
