HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 9 (ACN) With around 184 concerts in Havana and another 74 in the city of Santiago de Cuba by more than 60 national and foreign bands, the 39th International Jazz Plaza Festival will be consolidated as a musical bridge between different peoples of the world.

The event, to be held in the aforesaid venues on January 21 to 28, will gather figures and specialists from the United States, France, Spain, Mexico, Austria, Chile, Holland, Barbados, Switzerland, Norway, Brazil, Colombia, and, for the first time, China.

Indira Fajardo, president of the Cuban Institute of Music, remarked that the Festival includes the International Music Industry Forum “Primera Línea”, aimed at discussing the presence of women in today’s music industry and the new forms of non-state management in that field, and the International Colloquium “In Memory of Leonardo Acosta”, dedicated to the use of piano in jazz music.

According to Bobby Carcassés, honorary president of the festival, Jazz Plaza has become a major achievement, given its role in conveying love and truths to bring all peoples together through Cuba’s unique flavor and charm.
