Cuban Writers and Artists Association to begin organizing for its 10th Congress
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 29 (ACN) The National Council of the Cuban Writers and Artists Association ( UNEAC by its Spanish acronym) will begin the process towards its 10th Congress on January 11, to analyze the main challenges facing Cuban culture.
Corina Mestre, national vice president of the organization, said that from that day on, creators and intellectuals will meet in commissions in the morning to discuss the main problems and concerns.
In the afternoon session will take place the plenary session of this Council, a preview of the Congress to be held in the middle of 2024, the actress added.
She pointed out that they will discuss the organization's internal or operational problems, the relationship and dialogue that artists have with the institutions, not only those of the Ministry of Culture, but with all those that influence or intervene in the work of creators.
Five working commissions will bring together musicians, writers, visual artists, audiovisual producers and stage creators in an exchange by commissions, which will serve as a basis for the debates that will be held from January 22 to late April in the branches, sections and Municipal and Provincial Committees of UNEAC.
These spaces for dialogue of all the members of this organization will serve to evaluate what has been achieved and to project the work for the next five years.
With the maxim of intellectual Fernando Ortiz: "Culture is the Homeland", Cuban writers and artists will arrive at the 10th Congress thinking, doing, working for the good and spirituality of the nation, as President Miguel Diaz-Canel called at the closing of the last conclave.
