
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 29 (ACN) From January 9 to 13, 2024, Havana will host the Ballet Beyond Borders (BBB) event, an international dance festival and competition that promotes cultural exchange through that artistic manifestation.
According to the press department of Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC), this prestigious Cuban dance company is co-sponsoring the event.
The BBB edition to be held in Cuba, according to the press release, will have as its theme "BBB in the Neighborhood", which represents an opportunity for participants to feel Havana not as tourists but as members of the community, in contact with its traditions and the daily life in the Caribbean nation.
This festival also seeks to defend diversity, cultures and the universal language of dance.
According to the event's program, there will be a "Dance Challenge", a competition for professional and amateur dancers, divided into ballet, contemporary, modern, young choreographer (up to 30 years old) and an open section that includes hip hop, flamenco, ballroom, tap and all forms of ethnic-cultural dance.
In addition, documentaries will be screened and there will be a final awards gala and a closing ceremony with the participation of these guest artists.
Ballet Beyond Borders will be located at Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba's headquarters, Marti Theater, the Amphitheater of the Historic Center of Old Havana and Malecon ART 255, where the local development project LADC+ is based.
This event, created by Charlene Carey, founder of the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre in the United States, promotes cooperation and understanding through dance to defend peace.
