In Cuba, culture goes for everyone

Humor, music, dancing, workshops, lectures, exhibitions and other options describe this 2023, which bids farewell with the slogan "Cuba is Culture".

Many are the attractions that every year captivate and lead more people to enjoy a great vacation in this country, which must be visited to understand its cultural dynamics and its people.

Countless cultural events marked the year, including the 38th International Jazz Plaza Festival in January with its 100-plus concerts in the cities of Havana and Santiago de Cuba by artists from more than 15 countries, the 31st Havana International Book Fair—dedicated to Colombia—in February, and the 1st Children’s Fair “El Trompo” in April, attended by Cuban and foreign artists and creators and full of exhibitions, performances, collective games, and sales of books, costume jewelry, school supplies and handmade and industrial toys.

The summer season also hosted the Cuban music festival “Cubadisco 2023”, the 42nd Caribbean Festival “Fiesta del Fuego”—dedicated to the Mexican celebrations of life and death—and the International Festival “Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz and Son”. Likewise, we had the 2nd Cultural Festival “Cuba Va Conmigo” (of Cubans living abroad), the celebrations of the National Day of Spain, the 25th Italian Culture Week—dedicated to the centenary of Italo Calvino and the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries—and the 11th British Culture Week, dedicated to the writer J.R.R. Tolkien in the 50th anniversary of his death.

Furthermore, the National Ballet of Cuba celebrated its 75th anniversary with a special jubilee, and Havana was the venue of the International Theater Festival and the International Crafts Fair “Fiart 2023”, attended by nine countries. Moreover, we had the 44th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema and the 3rd Havana Mambo Festival on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the musician and composer José Dámaso Pérez Prado, known as "The King of Mambo".

Undoubtedly, the year 2023 brimmed with culture and traditions that allowed Cubans to develop their roots, customs and idiosyncrasy and mix them with those of sister countries.
