HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (ACN) The book Leo Tolstoy. Epistolario cubano( Leo Tolstoy. Cuban Epistolary), by Blas Nabel Perez Camejo, published by Cubaliteraria Ediciones Digitales, will be presented today at the Jose Marti National Library on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of the Russian writer's death.

Unpublished text specially written for digital support, the purpose of the book is to investigate and ponder on the letters received, from Cuba, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, by the well-known and renowned Russian writer.

There are an estimated 16,000 letters, postcards and notes sent and received by the author of War and Peace in the Leo Tolstoy Museum in Moscow, thanks to the fruitful epistolary relationship he maintained with the whole world.

It is now possible to know, through these pages, several of these texts that were dated on the Island, belonging to the collection of 245 letters written in Spanish, preserved in the aforementioned Moscow institution.

Blas Nabel Perez Camejo is the author of several studies on the Russian painter Vasily Vereschaguin, published, among other books, in Bibliography of the Russian painter Vasily Vereschaguin in Cuba 1889-1992 and Taking hold of the light: Jose Marti and Vasily Vereschaguin.

Leo Tolstoy. Cuban Epistolary is a book that allows -in the words of journalist and critic Fernando Rodriguez Sosa, in the prologue of the volume- "to unveil something little known: that interest, that concern, that determination, of Leo Tolstoy to contribute to social reformation, to human improvement, to universal brotherhood", states a note from the Cuban Book Institute.
