HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 22 (ACN) Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban PM, mourned today on Twitter the death of singer-songwriter Pablo Milanes, in Madrid, at 77.
"With great pain and sadness we regret to inform that the legendary Pablo Milanes passed away early Monday, November 22, in Madrid," reported the musician's Artistic Office, and thanked "deeply all the signs of affection and support to all his family and friends, in these difficult moments."
The news has had immediate repercussions among Cuban artists who mourn the death of the author of Yolanda and other emblematic songs.
Duo Buena Fe, Havana D' Primera group said goodbye with words of love and gratitude "Farewell maestro Pablo Milanes, my dear. You remain eternally in our hearts. In the wonderful music you bequeathed to us. In the love and respect you always lavished on us. In the commitment to the art of song. In the love for beauty. Thank you for so much.
The National Association of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC by its Spanish acronym) joins the mourning of the Cuban people and conveyed its condolences to family and friends.
The Recording and Music Publishing Company (EGREM) also added its condolences to the numerous expressions of sadness and grief for the death of the renowned artist.
Last November 13, Pablo Milanes was hospitalized in Madrid, where he had been living since 2017 and was receiving medical treatment for the oncohematological disease he had been suffering from for some years and which was aggravated in recent months.
His last presentation in Havana was in a concert at the Ciudad Deportiva, where hundreds of Cubans shared fragments of several of the songs he chose for that night.
