Collateral Award winners of the Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 12 (ACN) The Collateral Awards of the 42nd edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema of Havana were presented at the event venue.

Mexican director Fernanda Valadez’s debut film Sin señas particulares received the Casa de las Américas Award and the Roque Dalton Award from Radio Habana Cuba.

The New Latin American Cinema Foundation Cyber-vote awards by category were: Tengo miedo torero (Chile-Fiction feature film); Las polacas (Cuba/United States-Fiction short film); Los fantasmas (Guatemala-First Work); El agente topo (Chile-Documentary feature film); Terra nova (Brazil-Documentary short film) and Agua de mandarina (Argentina-Animated films).

The jury of the Cuban Film Press Association awarded Nuevo orden, by Mexican filmmaker Michel Franco, whereas the University of Havana chose the Brazilian motion picture Casa de antigüedades, about racial discrimination, xenophobia and conservatism.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center presented its “Caminos" Award to Ana sin título, by the Brazilian filmmaker Lucia Murat, and the Federation of Schools of Image and Sound of Latin America presented the FEISAL Award to the Colombian move La pérdida de algo sentido.

Other institutions such as the Agrarian University of Havana, the UPEC Culture Circle, the National Federation of Cuban Film Clubs and Project Súmate also presented their respective awards.
