
HAVANA, Cuba, January 27 (ACN) Friendship and solidarity associations, along with the Cuban community residing in Lebanon, expressed their support for the dignity and resilience of the Cuban people and rejected the threats from the United States against the Caribbean nation, reported the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cubaminrex.
The event was held at the Cuban Embassy on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, the 173rd anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti, and the centennial of the birth of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
Present were Jorge Porfirio Leon Cruz, Cuban Ambassador, and Jose Gregorio Biomorgi, Venezuelan Ambassador. The meeting began with a minute of silence in homage to the more than 100 people who died during the aggression against Venezuela, including 24 Venezuelan combatants and 32 Cubans who were carrying out security duties in that country.
The speakers paid tribute to the martyrs, demanded the release of President Nicolas MaduroMoros and Cilia Flores, denounced the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba, and reaffirmed their solidarity with the Cuban and Venezuelan peoples.
Leon Cruz emphasized that the revolutionary triumph of 1959 put an end to neocolonialism in Cuba and underscored the nation's resistance to attempts at aggression.
He pointed out that U.S. policy seeks to conceal its internal crisis and called for international solidarity to defend sovereignty. The diplomat expressed his gratitude for the expressions of support received and reiterated Cuba's readiness to resist any aggression.
The event was attended by officials from the Cuban and Venezuelan embassies, members of the Cuban community in Lebanon, and representatives of Lebanese and Palestinian friendship and solidarity associations.
